How to make the most of one day in Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Studios was my first Walt Disney World theme park to visit. I will say, I am no expert on Disney, or the Walt Disney World parks, but I love Disney and have a passion to share my experience with you. The first time I ever went to Walt Disney World was January 2021. It was at 25% capacity. It was amazing. I know I can guarantee you that your experience will be different as far as how busy the parks are now, but you will still have a blast! I hope you enjoy this blog about how to make the most of your day in Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios hours 8:30a.m.-9:00p.m.
Early entry ( early entry access for guests who stay on Walt Disney Resort Hotels)
8:00a.m.
Park Hopper Availability
2:00p.m.-9:00p.m.
Transportation
If you are staying at a Walt Disney Resort Hotel, you will have transportation access to all the parks, and the opportunity to take advantage of the "Early Entry" park hours. The best advice I can give you, is when you arrive to your hotel, explore, and find out where you would transport from your hotel to each park. Each hotel is different. Some hotels use the Skyline, busses, boats, etc. This will help you know where to depart from your resort hotel on the day you're going to the parks. Transportation typically starts to run 15min before 8:00a.m. The hotels say 8:00a.m. but don't be fooled. Get there early (7:15a.m.), wait in line, and be the first one on at 7:45a.m!
Entering Hollywood Studios
I love walking down Hollywood Boulevard, hearing the old retro music ( I'm guessing 40s-50s music) and like always, smelling the wonderful aroma of Starbucks coffee.... it just hits different in a Disney theme park. Take it all in.
Rope Drop
Alright, this is where it gets tricky. Since they no longer have the que for Rise of The Resistance (in Galaxy's Edge) you may want to head there first, BUT I will also say, EVERYONE will head there. So my suggestion would be to head down Sunset Boulevard to Rope Drop for the ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. And what better way to start off your morning than being dropped in an elevator. HA! Next, I would head over to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. These two attractions are next to each other so why not? When you Rope Drop these rides, you will most likely have ridden two attractions by 9:00a.m. They do gradually get busier as the day goes on, which is why I would suggest doing them first. After an intense morning of rides, I would slow it down and head over to Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. This ride is adorable and is a must!! It is one of the most popular rides in Hollywood Studios.
Main Locations of Hollywood Studios
Know the map! I can't say this enough. Download the Walt Disney World App and get to know before you go. This will change the dynamic of your day drastically. If you know where you are on the map, and what is most important for you to experience in Hollywood Studios, your day should run smoothly.
When you walk into the park you enter the Main Street, Hollywood Boulevard. To the right will be Sunset Boulevard, straight ahead you'll run into Animation Courtyard, behind that will be Toy Story Land and most importantly following that will lead you to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge ( there is another entrance into Galaxy's Edge). Other locations are Echo Lake, Pixar Place, Commissary Lane (food options down that street), and the Grand Avenue ( more food options there).
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
Okay guys, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is AWESOME. If you love Star Wars, you may get emotional. There is so much to take in. The sounds, the shopping, the food, and don't forget that you can build a Lightsaber.
I will suggest looking at every opportunity to make any reservations for Galaxy's Edge. They do have restaurants that require reservations and if you want to build a Lightsaber or a Droid, you need to have a reservation. Other than that, the must do rides are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ( daily vloggers suggest saving this ride to do at night for a "shorter" wait time, OR purchase the Genie plus and skip the long line) and Millennium Falcom: Smugglers Run. These are rides are very immersive and, wow, so amazing. The animatronics and the details are incredible.
Food in Galaxy's Edge.
I did not get adventurous here. My favorite food is the Ronto Wrap ( mobile order on the Walt Disney World App) from Ronto
Roasters and Blue Milk ( mobile order) from the Milk Stand is always fun to try. It is good. I enjoyed it!
Other great places to eat in the park would be Woody's Lunch Box ( I hear the grilled cheese is amazing) 50's Prime Time Cafe, Rosie's All-American Cafe, and of course the Anaheim Produce for a churro or Mickey pretzel. We did not really venture out on eating in Hollywood Studios, but this is why I am very passionate about having the Disney App to see the map of all the food options, order ahead and use the mobile pick up. There are way more food options than I listed, but this is what I would suggest.
What Georganna likes to do in Hollywood Studios for a break.
Well, you've guessed it. SHOP!! You have to add in some down time and shop. I love walking down Hollywood and Sunset Boulevard looking in all the shops. The treat I get when I do this, is an Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade from Starbucks. This drink is refreshing and fits with the vibes of all the palm trees around you.
List of rides I suggest you HAVE to do once, if not twice.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
Slinky Dog Dash
Star Tours ( a classic)
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
List of my favorite snacks/food
Ronto Roasters
Woody's Lunch Box
50's Prime Time Cafe
Rosie's All-American Cafe
Anaheim Produce

Love it all! as a 60year old I grew up on Star Wars. I could live at Galaxy’s Edge 24-7.
